SMASH & GRAB : 'Twiglets', Paprika Tortillas and Sweet Cinnamon Sticks

Here are three really simple little snack ideas. You wouldn't necessarily want to make them all at the same time, but they are very quick, easy to prepare and totally delicious! You may think they are a little fiddly for the Smash & Grab section, but if you get your oven nice and hot, they cook in 5-10 minutes max!
So...preheat the oven to 200 degrees centigrade before you even read on....

All these snacks share the same basic ingredient-Warburtons Squarish Wraps! Then, with the addition of various other added ingredients, they transform into very diverse and tasty low-fat snacks.

How to make the 'Twiglets'

After my SMASH & GRAB:Quick Homemade Grissini post a few weeks ago, one of my Slice-of-Slim followers told me she had made a 'Twiglet' version but that it had all got very messy! So, I experimented a little and found a simple way to make these. They are absolutely delicious. One wrap makes enough for 2 small but satisfying bowls of 'twiglets'.
They work out to 2pp/approx.94kcal per bowl, or 5pp/188kcal for the whole amount. You would have to charge 5pp rather than 4pp as you have to include an extra propoint for the low fat spread for this amount. (Please check the nutritional information for the brand of low-fat spread you use as they all vary slightly on propoints and calories. I used Flora Light.

Zap 2 teaspoons Flora Light and 2 teaspoons Marmite together in the microwave for 10 seconds to form a runny liquid.

Take one Square-ish Wrap. Using scissors, cut the wrap into 4 strips, then into small 'twiglet'-size sticks. Put them into a wide bowl, then apply the Marmite mixture with a pastry brush (a rubber one is best), making sure you cover both sides of each stick. Because the Marmite and low-fat spread mixture is quite runny, it's easy to 'slosh' it around with the brush. Use the brush to turn the sticks so that you don't get messy.
Spread them evenly on greaseproof paper on a baking tray and pop into the pre-heated oven. They take around 8-10 minutes. Keep an eye on them so that they don't burn. Make sure they are a rich, dark colour, and crispy.

Put into serving dishes and enjoy! One wrap makes around 60-70 little 'twiglets'.

How to make the Sweet Cinnamon Sticks

Take one Square-ish Wrap and cut it into little sticks, just like the 'Twiglets'. Pop them into a wide bowl, spray with a few sprays of Frylight Sunflower Oil, then sprinkle with cinnamon and granular sweetener to taste. Mix thoroughly with your hands so that everything has an even coating. If you don't like artificial sweetener, use sugar but remember to weigh accurately, calculate and include the propoint/calories.

Spread out evenly on a baking tray and pop into the oven. These literally take about 4-6 minutes to bake as they are so small. Check after 4 minutes so they don't burn. You want them to be pale biscuit-coloured but crisp and snappy.

Pop into serving dishes.
These work out to 2pp/80kcal for half a portion, or 4pp/159kcal for the whole lot.
They are lovely to nibble like this, but also yummy dipped into a mini pot of Chocolate Philadelphia or Extra Light Philadelphia...Just remember to add the extra propoints or calories if you do this.

How to make the Paprika Tortillas

Cut a Square-ish Wrap into 20 squares, then cut each square diagonally into 2 triangles.

Pop the triangles into a wide bowl. Spray with some Frylight Sunflower oil and sprinkle generously with paprika. You could add smoked paprika, a chilli kick or some herbs-whatever you like best. Mix well with your hands to coat all the triangles. Don't worry if some have more paprika on them than others-they look more authentic and handmade this way.
Spread out evenly on a baking tray and bake for 5-8 minutes. Check for a medium-dark biscuit colour and crispness.

Put into serving dishes. These work out to 2pp/80kcal for half the amount, or 4pp/159kcal for the whole amount. They are delicious dipped into reduced-calorie houmous. Remember to weigh, calculate and add the propoints/calories for the amount of houmous you eat. (If you are limited on points/calories, make a simple salsa out of chopped tomatoes, onion and garlic for 0pp/approx.20kcal).
